Snapshot PA A day in the life of Pennsylvania public libraries
In this age of budget cuts and questions about the role of libraries in the future, it is important to show that libraries are being used more than ever.
The Pennsylvania Library Association and Commonwealth Libraries launched a project called Snapshot PA: One Day in the Life of Pennsylvania Libraries- October 28, 2009. Its purpose? To capture the impact that Pennsylvania libraries have on their communities on a typical day.
The numbers are impressive. 179,702 people walked through our libraries’ doors, 208,171 materials were circulated, and librarians answered 22,487 reference questions. But numbers don’t tell the whole story. Library patrons, young and old, shared their personal experiences during their visits.
Take a look, and you can take a survey to tell how libraries are important to you.
